MEGA PROGRAMME
The
success of the mega event organised by AID at Baharagora in the
state of Jharkhand spoke of the milestone being achieved with
overwhelming support and cooperation from the local community.
People from all walks of life came together and created a common
platform to address the most alarming issues of the hour. Govt
officials, NGOs, students, teachers, business and corporate sector
along with pimps were the active participants of the day. AID,
Baharagora was able to tune the voices from its operation area in
the states of West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. Thousands of
beautiful banners and posters made the town colourful. Adding to the
colours were tribal dance and the human chain that formed a long
rally to mark this event. Various stalls around the event made the
moment more splendid and helped in achieving the following targets:
1)
Awareness regarding the issue of STD/HIV/AIDS.
2)
To reach every people of the community under the banner of AID.
3)
Create a common platform to address the issue.
4)
Tie up with youngster in each activity of Mega Programme.
5)
To involve multimedia.
6)
To make the people aware about the gravity of the problem.
Rally started from
Baharagora Stadium and ended in J.P. Community Hall. Main activity
took place at J.P.Community Hall at Baharagora.

About 4000 people including Govt. officials and
students actively participated in the programme. 18 officials from
different departments including the Civil Surgeon of the district
Head of the department of malaria and other block level officers
graced the occasion.
· About 3000 Students from different schools
gathered and participated in the rally, culture and Quiz programmes.
78 teachers from various schools also assisted in the programme.

Some NGOs who are working on the same issues attended
the programme. Among them SAFI, SAMARPAN, RRDC, MAHILA, KALYAN and
SNAGATHAN SEVA were very active in mega programme.

Total of 17 club representatives along with 53
members participated in mass rally. They also helped in conducting
the programme.
·
87 SHG members along with 55 tribal people from Orissa
performed tribal dance in front of large gathering.
·
Overwhelming support was received from the corporate
houses like Bajaj Auto, Reliance India Mobile, Pepsi, Coca-Cola,
Sunny InfoTech, AIADA, Life Insurance Corporation, Bharat Petroleum,
Indian Oil and Coca Cola with equal cooperation from petrol pump
dealers.

Few known pimps of the area were also invited and
participated in the meeting.
Shri Sunil Mahto,
the Member of Parliament was the Chief Guest of the event.
Hon’ble Shri Sunil Mahato, MP praised and highlighted the work of AID
in the health sector. In response to Charter of demands from the
local community regarding the poor health services in the area, he
assured to look in to the matter and to assist AID as and when
required.
Civil Surgeon of the District, East Singhbhum declared to provide an
ambulance to PHC, Baharagora.
