The Delegation of the European
Commission to India organised a thematic seminar focusing on its
experience in addressing the Gender Dimension in development
projects in India through various cooperation programmes and
projects at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi on Monday 19
March 2007. The seminar aimed at dissemination of the results and
best practices of a series of EC-supported projects and programmes,
implemented in different parts of India in collaboration with the
Government and NGO partners.
AID put up an exhibition stall to showcase its achievements and
outcomes. It also actively participated in delivering its gender
based experiences on the thematic session of "socio-economic
aspects". It narrated its positive practical experiences drawn in
from the EC supported programs in Palamau, HIV/AIDS in the cross
border regions of Jharkhand ,Orissa and W.Bengal and its
innovative initiatives on Community radio and tribal governance in
Ranchi district among the Munda tribes.
The Ambassador-Head of Delegation of the European Commission in
India, Mr. Francisco da Camara Gomes, inaugurated the seminar and
the exhibition by Mr. S.Y. Quraishi, Election Commissioner of
India. The day-long event had the participation of civil society
representatives, several leading NGOs , project partners ,media
and government representatives. |
