Background
The
college is situated in the Nenwa village in the Meral Block of the Garwah
District, Jharkhand State, India.The
construction of the college building (including hostel accommodation) was
completed in December 2000 and consequently this is the completion of three
full years of operating since its opening in January 2001.
The
purpose of the college is primarily to provide technical education and work
skills for the original 11,000 children (now reduced this year to
approximately 6,200) in the Garwah district.
The
college is now in its third year and the first entrants have now completed
their three year course very successfully.
They achieved overall a 90% pass rate in the external examinations
conducted through the National Institute of Open School (N I O S), Delhi.
Activities
The
course duration is generally between 6 and 12 months and in special cases
can be extended a by further 12 months. Also short term courses of 7 days to
2 months are offered.
Again this year it has added more vocational courses to the college
syllabus.
The
college operates the more intensive courses on campus and also extension
units for courses that can run and be managed in the villages. read

Objectives
The
principal single objective is still to provide technical education for 300
working children a year.
