Uniqueness of the project  : The uniqueness features of the project/programme are: In this initiative, non-wood forest products (NWFP), increase in productivity of NWFPs, sustainable harvest of NWFP, facilities for storage, processing and trade facilitation are the central focus for forest protection, promotion and livelihood security. This is a sustainable management initiative in which both environment and the people are equally benefited. Another special feature is strengthening of symbiotic link and relationship between forest and the people. It is a mutually beneficial and mutually caring, sharing and supporting strategy. The forest people are the central focus in this approach. Their culture, their system and their sustainable indigenous practices are cross fertilised with scientific practices to benefit from both internal and external knowledge and practices.
