Action For Right to Health for Life Security and Good Governance, Jharkhand
Background
The project is located in Garwha
District. The campaign and advocacy components are focused on
Jharkhand state with focus on key governance and policy issues of
health. The project was conceived on the basis of poor health
facilities, lack of basic health services and weak health governance
in the conflict and troubled areas of Jharkhand.
Empowerment of the marginlised
community forums will be attained through building up solidarity and
multiple partnerships for increased civil society health action for
reduction of malaria, TB, waterborne diseases and STIs, improvement
in quality of health services, enforcement of existing health
policies and influencing government for pro-poor, pro-women and
pro-tribe health policy.
Achievements
Micro health planning
conducted in 120 villages. The health problems, health right
violations and misuse of government health services were
identified.
104 Health shows
conducted. AID produced radio episodes on themes of Malaria,
immunization, T.B., Polio, family planning and sanitation and
right to health entitlements. THese were narrocasted in villages,
markets and mela (fair) sites to raise awareness and sensitise
them on health rights and entitlements and issues of health
governance.
Health exhibitions on health rights
and entitlements were conducted.
Meetings with the
State AIDS Control Authorities, District Health Authorities and
engaged local member of Legislative Assembly and shared the
non-governance health issues.
The project conducted
rallies, workshops with the participation of 1464 men and women.
They highlighted the problems of a lack of reproductive health
services, deaths from malaria and non-delivery of health services
and lack of HIV and AIDS services.
124 village information centres are
functioning to provide informaion on government health services,
rights, policy and programme information.
