Till recently, we have concentrated on establishing AID in these areas. We have initiated a lot of activities in the last seven months for the benefits of the suffering.

It is worthwhile to note that the students are going to schools regularly forgetting their nightmares and trauma. Some of the fisherfolk are back in their business. Small traders in Velankanni and Nagore are bubbling with confidence that their businesses would bring in profitable yields in a short while from now.

And, AID has a definite task ahead to lead various activities that are taking place in these areas and see to that they are taken to their logical end. AID plans to conduct intensive skills training programmes for the students by affiliating to some of the well-known institutions recognised by Government of India. AID intends to build community halls, hospitals, schools, ration shops, health centres, etc., in various villages. AID is also planning to impart training to a few persons for repairing the boats and nets.

In the days to come, AID plans to buy catamarans, boats and nets, and distribute them to the deserving people. Cows and goats would be bought and given to the villagers so that they start small business.

AID’s greatest endeavour is to make affected people understand the importance of micro-finance and to get necessary funds from small banks and financial institutions for them. AID plans to link people with banks so that their financial needs are fulfilled in the long run.
