Tsunami Relief work report of Alternative for India
Development
Alternative
for India Development (AID), Chennai, Tamilnadu swung into immediate
action for relief work, on 27th of December, the next day
of tsunami strike in Tamilnadu, India. Tragically, few of the
relatives of AID staff were also killed in the tsunami strike. After
seeing the gravity and scale of the devastation, AID plunged into
direct action. Amidst, sorrow and grief, after seeing the tragedy and
scenes of destruction and devastation in the coastal areas of
Tamilnadu, including Chennai, the Capital of Tamilnadu State, India;
AID pumped up its energy and resources for relief work. Since AID is
being based in Chennai, with two decades of experience, it has
strongly positioned to do the work spontaneously. Added to it, being
close to the vicinity of the coastal area and its deeper understanding
of the logistical features of Taminadu, it is an advantage for
rendering the relief work. Further, being integral part of the social,
cultural and linguistic traditional ethos of Tamilnadu, with necessary
physical infrastructure at the disposal of the organisation, it was
made easy for doing the work.
