AID’s strategies for intervention among the tsunami affected families, children and villages

We would like to purse two phase activities. They are:

  • Emergency phase with a duration of three months

  • Recovery and rebuilding plan for 3 years

In the emergency phase, the relief and emergency related social, psychological and crisis intervention works will be initiated. In the second phase, recovery and rebuilding plan with four key areas of intervention is planned. They are:

  1. Rebuild their families and communities through empowering and building self-help forums for the affected families.

  2. Second is the livelihood recovery, revival and restoration plan

  3. Third is the social, health and education care and support

  4. Fourth is the networking, solidarity building and advocacy for policy influencing and pressing the government for honouring its commitment made immediately during the post-tsunami phase.

These strategies are to be carried out through various community based organisations, NGOs, civil society networks. The entire focus of the action is family, children and communities.

Government is to be fully involved and entire focus of the initiative is to make maximum use of the government relief and rehabilitation package announced recently.
