Women's Polytechnic

Women's Polytechnic
(Extension of Community Technical College, Jharkhand)

Background
The polytechnic will provide further education for women over the age of 18 and is being set up with the support of the Jharkhand State government who have agreed to supply 70% of running costs for poor women students plus electricity, land and road facility costs.
The building which started 31 March 2002   was due to be completed and opened in March 2003. Whilst part of the building has been opened, demands were made by Government to accommodate further buildings on the campus and these were completed in March 2004.
In addition to the original programme, a 3 year diploma course has been introduced to cater for the exceptional needs of this very backward and remote area.

  • 92 from Dhal in lentils processing and trading

  • 121 from Pappad in pickle making

  • 58 in producing and selling mahuva and forest products

Objectives
It is a technical skill building centre to create a pool of engineering trained young women to engage in production enterprises, running courses of 2 years duration.
