Women's Polytechnic (Extension of Community Technical College, Jharkhand)
Background The
polytechnic will provide further education for women over the age of 18 and
is being set up with the support of the Jharkhand State government who have
agreed to supply 70% of running costs for poor women students plus
electricity, land and road facility costs.
The building which started 31 March 2002 was due to be completed
and opened in March 2003. Whilst part of the building has been opened,
demands were made by Government to accommodate further buildings on the
campus and these were completed in March 2004. In
addition to the original programme, a 3 year diploma course has been
introduced to cater for the exceptional needs of this very backward and
remote area.
Activities Short
term courses were given to women on self-help group management and the
operation of small and micro enterprises.Those attending were :

Objectives
It is a technical skill building centre to create a pool of engineering
trained young women to engage in production enterprises, running courses of
2 years duration.
